Innovative Collaboration with the Scientific-Technological Startup Sequre Quantum

May 6, 2024
Marisol Zavala Miranda, a Master’s student in Applied Mathematics at the University of Antofagasta and a member of the QuDIT Group, is currently developing her thesis based on the study of genuine random numbers and their differences from pseudo-random numbers.

Random numbers are crucial for a wide variety of applications, including Monte Carlo simulations, cryptography, test data generation, gambling, and optimisation algorithms.

In her research, Marisol has had the opportunity to use an innovative device created by the Chilean startup Sequre Quantum. This device, which operates on quantum-mechanical principles, provides genuine random numbers, unlike common sources that offer pseudo-random numbers generated by classical algorithms which, although they appear random, are completely deterministic.

This collaboration with Sequre Quantum underscores QuDIT’s firm commitment to merging academia and industry for the development of technologies that bring significant benefits to society. This project marks an important first step on this path, filling us with pride and reinforcing our motivation to continue advancing in this promising direction.
