Abraham Vega Vargas, a Mathematical Engineering student from the University of Santiago de Chile (USACH), has excelled at the XXXVI Southern Region Mathematics Conference, held from April 24 to 26 in Temuco. At this significant event, Abraham presented his research entitled “Optimal Measurements in Quantum Mechanics,” which was developed during a Summer Internship with the QuDIT Group at Pontificia Universidad Católica.
Abraham’s work proposes an efficient method for reading information in quantum computers using measurements that act locally on each qubit. This approach is specifically designed to reconstruct a particular class of quantum states known as “pure states,” which are typical in quantum computers.
